ENTRY REQUIREMENT

Foundation or extended programmes

  • For extended engineering/science ctheirses – West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) awarded by either the West African Examination Council (WAEC), or National Examinations Council (NECO) pass with a minimum of three at C6 and two at B3, including maths
  • For International Foundation Year (Science and Engineering) – WASSCE: WAEC or NECO pass with a minimum two at C6 and three at B3 including maths.
  • For International Foundation Year (Business and Computing) or (Law) – WASSCE: WAEC or NECO pass with a minimum of six at C6 including maths

Undergraduate programmes

  • Recognised foundation programme
  • National diploma in an appropriate subject with 2.8/4.0 or 3.5/5.0 as minimum

Advanced entry to undergraduate

  • You may be considered for the second year of an undergraduate degree if you have a Higher National Diploma with a grade-point average of 2.0/4.0 or 2.5/5.0
  • You may be considered for the third year of an undergraduate degree if you have a Higher National Diploma with a grade-point average of 2.8/4.0 or 3.5/5.0
  • Depends on their subject area

Postgraduate programmes

  • Grading is the same as the UK system of grading so UK entry criteria apply – normally a 2.2 at undergraduate degree level but some theirses require a 2.1

International fees and funding

The yearly fees for new international students on full-time courses in 2013-14 and 2014-15 are:

  • £4,725 – international foundation programmes starting February (60 credits)
  • £9,450 – international foundation programmes starting September (120 credits)
  • £10,450 – full-time undergraduate courses
  • £10,450 – full-time postgraduate diploma courses
  • £10,950 for full-time postgraduate courses
  • £12,950 for the MBA Master of Business Administration.

International scholarship

£1,500 a year

  • A scholarship of £1,500 a year is available for all self-funded international (non-European Union) students studying on foundation, undergraduate or postgraduate programmes
  • Scholarships are awarded as a fee reduction for every year of full-time study
  • If you are sponsored by your company, government or similar, you are not entitled to the international scholarship.

Staying on bonus

£1,000 discount
If you study with us at undergraduate level and progress to a postgraduate course, or you complete a masters with us and progress to further postgraduate study, you are awarded a £1,000 discount on your first-year fees for the next programme

Deposits for self-funding students

If you are funding your own studies, you must pay a deposit before receiving your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) number which enables you to apply for a visa. We confirm your deposit amount in your conditional offer. If you are refused a visa, we refund your deposit. If your visa is issued, the University retains your deposit.

Payment terms

  • You must pay 50% of you net course fees before you enrol at the University
  • You can pay the remaining 50% in up to seven monthly instalments. THIS IS A UNIQUE SELLING POINT OF TEESIDE UNIVERSITY.
  • If you are studying at the University full time and pay in full before you enrol, you are entitled to a 5% early payment discount (5% of the net course fee)
  • Your course fees are fixed at the same level for all the years you study on the same course
  • These payment terms apply for each year of study. You must pay 50% deposit before you can enrol each year.
  • As an international or European student you can pay fees in your own currency through Western Union.

Sponsored students

  • Your sponsor needs to confirm by letter that they are paying your fees before we can issue your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies. We only accept letters from approved sponsors
  • You must bring an original copy of your sponsorship letter when you arrive at the University to enrol
  • You aren’t entitled to an international scholarship.

OUR VIEW

This University is proving very popular with Nigerians. It is good value for money and the cost of living makes it one of the cheapest places to live in the UK. Also the fact that 50% of the school fees are paid during the duration of the school year in 7 instalments make this University a very affordable option. Facilities are very modern and University is well situated in city centre.
